The motion positions the snare against the back of the sound board, allowing it to vibrate with the beat.<\/p>\n<p>It\u00a0may be unable to make\u00a0the exquisite\u00a0thumbing\u00a0you\u00a0might get from an expensive and high-grade wood setup (this is pine and birch ply), but the\u00a0sound is quite awesome considering\u00a0this drum&#8217;s affordability and portability. Real musicians\u00a0take these things to the beach or camping to make pleasant\u00a0noise with, and for, gathered friends.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/seawoodusa.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/done2b.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-475 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/seawoodusa.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/done2b-204x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"204\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seawoodusa.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/done2b-204x300.jpg 204w, https:\/\/seawoodusa.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/done2b-768x1128.jpg 768w, https:\/\/seawoodusa.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/done2b-697x1024.jpg 697w, https:\/\/seawoodusa.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/done2b-610x896.jpg 610w, https:\/\/seawoodusa.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/done2b.jpg 897w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 204px) 100vw, 204px\" \/><\/a>The benefits for me: my kids helped me build it, allowing me extra time with them.\u00a0 It provided mid-level challenges.\u00a0 It only took a couple of weeks working around my full-time job.\u00a0 And I probably paid under $30.<\/p>\n<p>I guess I should mention the main reason I made the thing. I am hoping to have it auctioned off through <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WoodToysRock\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wood Toys Rock<\/a><\/strong> with the proceeds going to a suitable charity. I&#8217;ve just got to find the right organization and event.<\/p>\n<p>On top of\u00a0all that, I got to test the drum and expose my offspring\u00a0to audio art.\u00a0 They might describe it as random banging.\u00a0 But it was music because I said so.<\/p>\n<p>I insisted it was a cultural experience, although I think the dogs who escaped to another room will be harder to convince.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Project hunting is rewarding.\u00a0 Every time I find something good, the benefits begin to gather.
